Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), Colombo District Candidate Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC, said under a new SLPP regime helmed by the incumbent President and the Prime Minister, politicians responsible for the Central Bank Treasury Bonds scam and politicians who had allegedly provided shelter to extremists behind the 21 April 2019 Easter Sunday terror attacks, will be prosecuted.
He charged that when a case had been filed concerning last year’s Easter Sunday carnage by the previous United National Front (UNF) led regime, charges had not been filed concerning four former Ministers over the heinous crime.
Rajapakshe alleged that the four former Ministers of the previous regime had also been involved in the Bonds scam, and asserted that the former Government had taken legal action against others but not against these four ex-Ministers.
He stressed that once the new SLPP Government is formed, they will act swiftly to prosecute the four ex-Ministers in question, regarding the two previously mentioned incidents.
He further charged that the Parliamentary Select Committee that was formed by the previous regime to probe the Easter Sunday mayhem had allegedly absolved blame that had fallen on those who had provided political shelter to extremists behind the terror attack.
He pointed out that as the Presidential Commission of Inquiry formed to probe the 2019 Easter Sunday blasts, is continuing their work efficiently, and that the names of politicians of the previous UNF Government, who had allegedly provided political shelter to the extremists behind the attack, would be revealed shortly.
